2024 Law Enforcement Appreciation Week

Blue Line Flag

The 2025 National Police Week will be May 12 through May 15. May 15 is Peace Officers’ Memorial Day with a ceremony being held on May 16th.

The formal beginning of Police Week was started on October 1, 1962 when a joint resolution was approved, as amended (76 Stat. 676), and Public Law in 103-322, as amended (36 U.S.C. 136-137), that the President has been authorized and requested to designate May 15 of each year as “Peace Officers Memorial Day” and the week in which it falls as “Police Week.” Each year since then every President of the United States has issued the Proclamation.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Appreciation Foundation has been supporting Alabama law enforcement for the past 11 years. A dedicated team of volunteers serves food to any and all officers and dispatchers serve food from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. They also hand out awards and prizes to officers each day of the event.

This year the event will be held at the JSU Stadium Tower at Mehan Hall and is expected to have a great showing.

Here is the 2025 Official Agenda

The Alabama Law Enforcement Appreciation Foundation (ALEAF) will host a Police Week Luncheon from May 12th to May 15th at Jacksonville State University (JSU) Stadium to honor the dedicated service of law enforcement officers and dispatchers in the 7th Judicial Circuit.

The luncheon will take place daily from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with lunch provided for all attending officers and dispatchers. The event will feature door prizes and awards presented throughout the week, recognizing outstanding service and commitment.

A special invitation is extended to retired officers to attend on Monday, May 12th. That day’s keynote speaker will be JSU Head Football Coach Charles Kelly, who will share his insights and appreciation for the law enforcement community. He will be introduced by President Killingsworth.
